"How's that post doing?"

Somebody asks how last week's post is getting on. You leave Craft, log in to Clicky (affiliate link), go looking for the page among all the others, and then come back to Craft to get on with things. Craft doesn't show you any visitor figures of its own.

Clicky Analytics brings them in. Add the Page Stats field to an entry type and each entry shows its own visitors, unique visitors, actions, bounce rate, average time on page, where the traffic came from and who visited recently, worked out from the entry's URL. The person asking can look for themselves, on the entry they're already editing.

The whole site on your dashboard

There are 21 dashboard widgets to choose from: an Overview with trends, Live Visitors, Top Pages, Sources, Countries, Browsers, Goals, Campaigns and more. Each has its own date range and number of rows, and every row links through to the matching report in Clicky if you want to dig further. The Report widget draws any single metric as a counter, or as a line, bar or pie chart.

The Live Visitors feed lists visits as they come in, with the visitor's country, location, landing page, browser and operating system, referrer and time on site. In Top Countries you can open a country to see its regions and cities without leaving the widget.

If Clicky is having a bad day

Requests to Clicky give up after five seconds, and after a failure the plugin waits a minute before trying again. If you use craft.clickyAnalytics in your own templates, it hands back empty results when Clicky can't be reached, so your pages stay up. Results are cached for as long as you set, five minutes by default.

Your Sitekey stays private

The Site ID and Sitekey go in environment variables, and Test connection checks them against Clicky before you save
Craft masks the Sitekey in its logs and in the control panel's variable suggestions
Visitors' IP addresses, hostnames and coordinates aren't cached
The plugin adds no database tables; it reads from Clicky as it needs to
One permission decides who sees the widgets, the Page Stats field and the drilldown

Clicky Analytics is free. It needs Craft CMS 5, PHP 8.2 or later, and a Clicky account with API access.
